Christopher Allen is returning to TrendSetter Boutique in April! Christopher showed his work in February of last year, and the show was a big hit. He has been exploring new ideas this past year, and we are looking forward to seeing what he has come up with.
Don't miss the opening event: Friday, April 1 2016, 6:00-9:00 PM, at the boutique. For more information on the Felton First Friday Art walk, visit the official website.

Christopher Allen came to Santa Cruz in 1996 to attend UCSC. He has worked as an educator in some capacity for the last 15 years, and as a recycled materials artist for the last three years. Christopher was first drawn to art by several things: the sudden loss of a full time job, an insatiable desire to work with his hands, and an abundance of available materials.
"I have always loved the idea of re-purposing, of taking everyday objects and using them in different, creative ways. I work primarily with recycled bottles, salvaged plywood and barnwood, wire, scrap metal, spray paint, and other found materials. I often use the context of my found materials to create social and political commentary. I like incorporating elements of pop-culture, literature, music, and poetry. I also like playing with juxtaposition between natural and man-made materials, between concrete and abstract representations of objects and ideas, and the effects of light, shadow, and texture."
